National Geographic’s website has an interesting article on the effects of napping and dreaming. Participants in a recent study showed a 40% improvement on creativity based word problems after taking a 90 minute nap which included a REM period. Nappers that had no REM period and those that didn’t take a nap showed no improvement. See the full article here: Dreams Make You Smarter, More Creative, Studies Suggest
I’m sure PasQuale will be attending the upcoming PsiberDreaming Conference — if you have questions, she loves to encourage others to learn to lucid dream.
The International Association for the Study of Dreams (IASD) has announced the presenters for their PsiberDreaming Conference Sept 26th – Oct 10th, 2010. The theme of this year’s two week online conference is: “We are such stuff as dreams are made on...”
It’s an awesome lineup, including Keynote Speaker, INCEPTION Documentary Director: Roko Belic. His topic: “DREAMWORLD: Exploring the Movies of the Mind.” Also among the 25 presenters is Jean Campbell (Dreaming the Family Spirit: Intergenerational Shared Dreams), Jayne Gackenbach (Video Game Play and Dreams: What are the Important Questions?), Beverly D’Urso (Emotions in Dreams Leading to Self Realization), Laura Atkinson (30/30 Dream Journal Technique [Dream Art Workshop]), Dale Graff (When Dreamtimes Intersect), Robert Hoss (Self-Inception: The Architect Within) — and me, Bobbie Ann Pimm (Dream Journaling: Your Guide to Discovering the stuff YOUR dreams are made on.)
I hope you will join us for two full weeks of what is always a mind-blowing experience. Registration is only $45.00 for non-IASD members and $40.00 for members. Register before August 15th and get $5.00 off. Student rate also available. If you join IASD as a new member between August 16th – October 1st — registration for the PsiberDreaming Conference is FREE.
There are probably as many ways to work with your dreams as there are dreamworkers. The basic starting point for any method is recording the dream in a dream journal. I’m curious as to how you record your dreams.
Are you new to dreamwork and just beginning to explore your dreams since you saw the movie, Inception? Or have you been doing it for some time now?
Do you have a specific format or layout you use? Do you use a particular method to work with your dreams (Ullman, Gongloff, Delaney?) so you record very specific aspects of the dream separate or aside from the dream report itself — characters, actions, settings, etc?
We’re usually limited to the size of the journal we use. What would your ideal format look like? How big would it be?
Do you personalize your journal? If so, how?
How long does it take you to fill up a journal — one month, six months, a year?
Do you use the same method(s) to work with your dreams – or are you always looking for something new?
I really want to know, as I am fleshing out an idea for a new book — please either reply to this post — or send an email directly to me. Your input is appreciated.
Happy Dreaming!
Bobbie Ann

Submission of Accepted Papers Deadline: September 1, 2010
There are only twenty four presentation spots available during the conference. Proposals for presentations or workshops must be submitted by deadline for consideration. Presentation title, plus a brief abstract can be e-mailed to Jean Campbell at jccampb@aol.com
Call for Art Work:
Official Entry Form will be available on August 1st
We wish to invite all dreamers who would like to share their dream-inspired artwork to participate in the 9th Annual PsiberDreaming Art gallery. This is an international open call for painters, photographers, conceptual digital graphics, fiber artists, dream doodlers, etc. We are especially interested to see dream based artwork that falls into this years PsiberDreaming conference theme: “We are Stuff Dreams are Made On.” Keep in mind that this is not a brick and mortar gallery. There’s no need to frame, wire, bang a nail into a wall. This online gallery will be open to PsiberDreaming online conference participants. Our needs are simple: jpeg images (as separate files) of your Dream-based artwork and a text narrative of the dream itself.
Conference Rates:
General Public $45 (USD)
IASD Member $40
Student With Valid ID $30
