A is for . . .
Amanda Appleton

Amanda Appleton loved apple – anything.
Apple jelly and apple cider, made her sing.
All of the apples she would pick.
She ate apples all day – until she was sick.
After dinner, at night – you know why,
She just had to have – apple pie.

Into the kitchen she would go,
She baked it herself – to make it just so.
After she finished and baked it just right,
She ate it all – every last bite.

Then she looked all around, and saw such a mess.
There were apple seeds and apple skins all over her dress.
After she cleaned it, and sat in a chair,
She scratched her head, and found apple juice in her hair.
Apple shampoo – what an idea.
Amanda Appleton will make it – have no fear.

Brooke and Brandon

Up, in the air are birds, butterflies and bees;
and a beautiful balloon floats in the breeze.
Below, there are boats in the ocean of blue;
and buoys bobbing up and down in there, too.

On the beach, Brooke and Brandon, together they play;
because they’re best buddies, they can play all day.
They build big buildings made of brown sand.
Both believing sand buildings always will stand.

Between the water and beach, they browse for shells;
and bathe in the briny, bountiful swells.
Back on sand, once again, they bounce a beach ball,
back and forth between them – don’t let it fall.

Better be careful, the bright sun’s in the sky.
Brooke and Brandon, you’ll burn before the day goes by.
So go into your beach bag and get out your lotion
before you begin to bounce in the ocean.

Daddy's Dinner

Daddy's driving home.
Dinner's almost ready.
Donna did the cooking.
Daddy doesn't know.

Donna says, "Daddy's dinner is done."
Donna's disappointed, "Where's Daddy?"

Donna cooked a delicious dinner for Daddy.
Donna did everything,
Well, Mommy helped a bit.

Donna hears Daddy's car.
"Daddy's home, dear," Mommy says.
Donna runs to the door to meet Daddy.
"Daddy, daddy, guess what?"
Daddy picks Donna up, "What?"
"Dinner's ready," Donna says.
"And Donna made it," says Mommy.

"Smells delicious," Daddy declares.
"Let's eat," Donna decides.
Daddy looks at Donna's dinner.
Donna made a dozen delicious drumsticks,
With dill sauce, dollops of potatoes and
diced carrots with peas.

"Donna, I've decided," Daddy says,
"Dinner was delicious."
Donna's very proud.
"Now, what's for dessert?" Daddy asks.
Donna proudly declares,
"Deep dish apple pie,
with dollops of whipped dairy cream."

"Delicious," they all declare.
