Do you dream in color? I'm not sure that I do or don't. That is, I don't
recall specifically dreaming in color and yet I don't remember
dreaming in black and white either.
Generally speaking, about 1/3 of all dreams reported are described
as being in partial or full color -- with artists claiming the highest
proportion of dreaming in full color most the time (obviously, color is
important to them). The majority of people claim, as I do, that they
can't say for sure that their dreams are in either color or black and
white. So don't feel bad, or strange, if you don't dream in color --
you're not alone.
What about those times that you are sure that an object in your
dream was definitely red or green or blue? What does it mean?
Colors, like other dream symbols, are very personal and you must
decide what the color means to you. For instance, if your bedroom
walls were green as a child then dreaming of green walls may be a
reference to your childhood.
As with other dream objects, some colors have a universal
significance. In addition, many eastern religions believe there is an
energy field flowing through the universe. There are seven main
points (chakras) in our body that vibrate to different wavelengths of
this energy (color). Each chakra stimulates a gland in our endocrine
system, thereby effecting our health.
