Welcome
Why do you dream?
Why interpret your dreams?
Remembering dreams
I have to say that this dream really confused me at first. Then I
found a new interpretation and it all made sense.

The Dream

I am standing outside on a patio or deck with some people -- it's
seems to be a party. We go through a sliding glass
door and
into the
house. I am mingling with these people and then I see
cats. I start saying to everyone, "Who let the cats in. Get the
cats out." I see a number of cats, big cats and baby cats, all
over the house. I pick one up, open the sliding glass door and
throw it outside. I'm going around the house trying to catch the
cats and keep saying, "Get the cats out". I catch another and
throw it out the door. Someone asks, "How can you be so cruel,
it might get hurt". I say, "It's OK, cats always land on their feet."
I look outside and the cat I just threw out is on its feet and
walking away. I wake up.

The Symbols

People in dreams often reflect different parts of yourself. Going
through a door can signify a change from one condition or
circumstance to another. Cats have several meanings in
dreams including, magic, intuition, femininity and sexuality. In
addition, I recently learned from a new source that cats often
symbolize babies in dreams.

The Interpretation

At first, this dream had me dumbfounded. None of the
interpretations for cats that I could find seemed to fit the dream
or anything happening in my life. Then I found a new source and
read that cats often symbolize babies -- due to their size and
the way we often hold them. When I read that, I started
laughing. Babies at this point in my life is downright laughable.
Then I remembered the fact that I'm throwing the cats out -- and
suddenly it all made sense -- and I laughed even harder.  My
youngest son is 19 and all I've been saying since he graduated
from HS last June is -- "I can't wait for him to get a good job and
move out."

So here is the interpretation:

I am standing outside. I go through the door. I interpret this as
the change that I am about to go through in my life - that of
being a mother to being a single woman alone (YIPPEE!!!). In
this case, I believe the door being made of glass is also
significant -- you can see through glass; so the glass door is
suggesting that I "see" this change coming. I believe the
people are me in the different roles I've played in my life --
child, wife, mother, career woman, single woman, etc. I am at a
party (celebrating these role changes) with these people. I see
the cats and I want them out. I pick one up and throw it out -- no
problem, my oldest (25) has been on his own for quite a while
now. I pick up the second and throw it out and someone asks
how I can be so cruel (to want to throw your kid out). This is not
an unreasonable question, as most mothers don't look forward
to their kids leaving home. They continue with, "It might get
hurt." (After all, he is still just a baby.) And my answer is, "Don't
worry, cats always land on their feet". So, I know that he will be
all right on his own.

I believe the dream makes it quite clear that I am really, really
looking forward to finally being alone.

My Action Plan

This dream was simply telling me that I am looking forward to my
future.  There is no action plan needed as a result of
interpreting this dream.
